Introduction
If an author needs access to a newly uploaded book on JSTOR and cannot access it through their institution or personal account, you can invite them to register for a personal JSTOR account in JSTOR Admin. Once registration is complete, their account will be paired with White Horse Press access.
How author access works
When you invite an author to register with the email address associated with their JSTOR access, JSTOR sends a registration email if no account already exists for that address. After the author completes registration, they will be able to log in and see Access provided by White Horse Press.
Step-by-step instructions
1. Invite the author in JSTOR Admin
In JSTOR Admin, locate the author and send an invitation for them to register for a personal JSTOR account using their email address.
2. Confirm the registration email is sent
If the author does not already have a JSTOR account associated with that email address, JSTOR will send a registration link to that inbox.
3. Have the author complete registration
Ask the author to open the email, follow the registration link, and finish creating their personal JSTOR account.
4. Verify access after login
After registration, the author should log in to JSTOR. Their account will be paired with White Horse Press access, and they should see Access provided by White Horse Press.
What to do if the author still cannot access the book
If the author does not receive the registration email or still cannot access the book after registering, confirm that the invitation was sent to the correct email address and that the account was created using that same address.
