The Books Title Inventory provides a complete title-level view of your books on JSTOR. With the report, you can confirm the status of your titles on JSTOR, verify where each title is available across sales models and programs, and identify potential issues that may delay or limit title availability.
To access the inventory:
- Log into JSTOR Admin with a personal account that has administrative permissions.
- If you haven't accessed publisher reports before, you will need to create a personal JSTOR account and contact JSTOR Support to have administrative privileges added to your account.
- Open the Publisher Collections menu in the sidebar and select Books Title Inventory.
Summary view
At the top of the inventory report, you’ll see the following key numbers for titles in your collection(s):
- Total Books - The total number of books for which JSTOR has received metadata, including books that may not be live on the platform yet and books removed from sale.
- Active Books - The total number of books for which JSTOR has received metadata, including books that may not be live on the platform yet, but excluding titles removed from sale.
- Live Books - The total number of books that are live on JSTOR. This includes all books from any program or sales model, including Open Access titles.

Books Missing PDF - The total number of books missing a PDF after the publication date has passed.
- JSTOR requires a PDF or a metadata update (if the publication date has changed).
- You can use the Book Status filter to identify titles currently missing PDFs.

Books On Hold - The total number of books that are on hold due to errors found during processing.
- If a replacement file is requested, you will/have already received a message from our Content Support team.
- You can use the Book Status filter to identify titles currently on hold due to errors.
Filtering the inventory
Below the summary view, you can select one or more values in each of the following available fields to filter the dashboard:
- eISBN - The eISBN of the book PDF.
- Title - The book title.

Book Status - The status of the book on JSTOR.
- Embargoed - The book has been processed and is ready to go live. The expected live date may be the publication date or the embargo date (depending on publisher specifications).
- Live - The book is live on JSTOR and can be accessed via its stable URL. To view what program or sales model a book is available through, please use the Sales Model filter or reference the corresponding columns in the inventory.
- No PDF Received - The publication date for a book has passed, but JSTOR still has not received a PDF for the title. JSTOR requires a book PDF for every title; please contact our Content Support team to provide the required assets.
- No PDF, Forthcoming - The publication date for a book is in the future, and JSTOR has not received a PDF for the title. JSTOR requires a book PDF for every title; to avoid delays, please contact our Content Support team to provide the required assets prior to the publication date.
- On Hold - Both metadata and a PDF file have been delivered, but an issue has been found with the PDF during processing. Our Content Support team has been in contact to request information and/or a replacement.
- Processing - Metadata and a PDF for the title have been received and the book is currently being processed.
- Removed from Sale - JSTOR received notice to remove this book from sale. If you have questions about a book removed from sale, or want to reactivate it, please contact our Content Support team for assistance.
- Sales Model - The program or sales model(s) through which the book is available.
- Published Year - The publication year specified in the book metadata.
- Copyright Year - The copyright year of the book PDF.
Your applied filters will appear along the top of the inventory. You can clear individual filters by selecting the X following the filter name or choose Reset all to default to clear all applied filters.
Viewing the inventory
The following columns are available in the Books Title Inventory, whether viewed in JSTOR Admin or exported to CSV/TSV/Excel spreadsheet:

| Status |
The status of the book on JSTOR. For a full list of statuses and definitions, please reference the Book Status filter above. |
| JSTOR URL | The stable URL of the whole book / Table of Contents landing page on JSTOR. |
| Title | The book title. |
| Subtitle | The book subtitle, if applicable. |
| Latest Metadata Price | The last known price indicated in the publisher-supplied metadata. |
| Latest Metadata Price (with Publisher Multiplier) |
If a publisher has asked JSTOR to apply an in-house global multiplier, this will modify the final outward-facing price sent to libraries. If there is no global multiplier in place, this column will reflect the “Latest Metadata Price”. |
| Active Catalog Price |
The price that is active in ordering catalogs. This column will be empty or “null” until a PDF and metadata have been received. JSTOR does not offer dynamic pricing and must be notified when to update a price. Currently, we automatically update prices once per year on February 1. To request updated prices sooner, please contact our Content Support team. |
| Latest Metadata Processed | The last known date JSTOR received and successfully processed publisher-supplied metadata for a book. |
| Record Reference | The Record Reference Identifier is a mandatory data point within ONIX. This identifier should be unique and persistent per product. |
| Publisher | Publisher name. |
| Imprint or Co-publisher | Imprint or co-publisher indicated in the publisher-supplied metadata for a book, if applicable. |
| Series | Series indicated in the publisher-supplied metadata for a book, if applicable. |
| Contributor(s) | The primary contributor(s) of the book (author(s) or editor(s)) specified in the publisher-supplied metadata. |
| Publication Date |
The publication date specified in the book metadata. If a publisher has provided on-sale/embargo dates or asked JSTOR to apply a global setting that all publication dates are to act as go-live dates, this date will be when a book goes live on JSTOR. |
| Copyright Year | The copyright year present within the book PDF. |
| ePub Missing? |
A status of “ePub ready” indicates that JSTOR has the metadata and assets necessary to host the ePub version of the title on JSTOR. A status of “ePub not ready” indicates that JSTOR is missing metadata and/or assets necessary to host the ePub version of the title. Check the “Reason ePub Not Ready” column for details. |

Sales Models and Programs The following columns indicate each title’s status, if any, in JSTOR’s various acquisition models and programs. If you don’t participate in OA, DDA, EBA, Publisher Collections, or Path to Open, your titles’ status will be “N” or “null” for each category. | |
| Open Access | A status of “Y” indicates the book is part of the Open Access program as specified in its metadata. |
| DDA |
A status of “Y” indicates the book is eligible for and part of the Demand Driven Acquisition (DDA) sales model. If a book is Open Access, has a DDA embargo, or is in a different restricted sales model, it is not eligible for DDA. |
| EBA |
A status of “Y” indicates the book is eligible for and part of the Evidence Based Acquisition (EBA) sales model. If a book’s copyright is less than three (3) years older than the current copyright year, or is in a different restricted sales model, it is not eligible for EBA. |
| Publisher Collections | A status of “Y” indicates the book is part of Publisher Collections and live on JSTOR. |
| Restricted to Publisher Collections | A status of “Y” indicates the book is exclusive to Publisher Collections as specified in its metadata. |
| Path to Open | A status of “Y” indicates the book is part of the Path to Open program as specified in its metadata. |
Downloading inventory data
The Books Title Inventory can be exported to a CSV, TSV, or Excel (XLSX) file for further analysis. The data in the exported inventory will reflect any filters you’ve applied.
To download dashboard data:
- Open the three-dot drop-down menu after the inventory title.
- Select Download.
- Select Data to export the raw data in the selected section to a CSV, TSV, or Excel (XLSX) file.
